Lucca is an ancient little town in the northwestern corner of Tuscany. It's well known for the medieval wall surrounding the old city center that has now become a lovely promenade perfect for walking, biking, and viewing the surrounding mountains. Lucca is beautiful and charming, comprised of narrow winding streets that open onto unexpected piazzas and cathedrals. I wish I had more time to explore this town, and I would definitely go back.
Saturday was a day trip to Pisa and Lucca, both to the west of Florence. Pisa of course is famous for its leaning tower, but it'd still be worth seeing even if it weren't for this ill-fated campanile.
Beginning my three months in Europe. An overnight layover in London. Stayed at a perfectly tiny capsule-style hotel in Heathrow and took the tube to Piccadilly Circus. After a long ride on the subway, it was nice to be greeted by a lovely lively square and these beautiful horses.
